Know The Different Types of Visual Displays and their Pros and Cons

A device that displays information through visual means is a visual display device. To simplify information sharing is the primary goal of any display technology. As time goes on there have emerged quite a few types of display devices and the process is an ongoing one. While there are many types of display types that you can choose from, it is important to know which ones offer you the most and which ones flatter to deceive. Discussed below are the various types of visual display device types and the pros and cons of each.

Visual Display Types with Pros and Cons

1. CRT Displays
CRT stands for cathode ray tubes and is the oldest display screen type. It uses fluorescent blue tubes within itself to project the electrons to the screen. Images are created because of these projections. These are the heftiest type of displays and are becoming ever-increasingly obsolete in a world where everyone is on the lookout for leaner and meaner. Although CRT displays come in quite a few screen sizes, perhaps a fact that helped it gain a foothold in the past, it is becoming an ever-increasingly rare sight to see these screens anywhere at present.

2. LCD Screens
One of the first things that caused CRT displays to become obsolete was the emergence of LCD, in short for liquid-crystal display. For a very long time LCD display screens were seen almost everywhere that could afford them. The flat nature of the display system endeared it to the masses as nothing had ever done before. The tubes of CRT were replaced with liquid-crystals and a backlight which stays keeps the LCD on at all times. However, even LCD displays were gradually replaced by the next display type on the list.

3. LED Display Screen
The next phase in visual display screen technology was the revolutionary LED displays. When people think about going for a purchase an LED display screen is the first thing that comes to their mind. Since it is a technology that has been in the market for a few years, the costs of the LED screens have gone down drastically, making it easier for people to buy it. LED stands for light emitting diode, and each individual diode is responsible for displaying the visuals on the screen.

These are some of the most widely used display types both in the past and present. No doubt, as time progresses, other technologies will come and make obsolete those of today, but until that happens it is best to use them to the fullest.
